Choose your kit online, pick it up at the studio, decorate your pottery at home, and return the ceramic pieces to us for professional kiln firing. We’ll email you when your finished work is ready for pickup.
Each kit begins with pottery handcrafted by a Calapooia Clay member artist, so your purchase supports local makers as well as our community studio.
How It Works

- Purchase your kit online while supplies are available
- Pick up your kit
- Collect the complete kit from Calapooia Clay during the designated pickup hours
- Glaze at home
- Use the included glazes, brushes, and instructions to decorate your handcrafted pottery. No pottery experience is required.
- Return, fire, and collect
- Return the glazed pottery, all glaze containers and unused glaze, both brushes, and the travel tote to Calapooia Clay.
- We’ll professionally fire your pottery and email you when it’s ready for pickup. After pickup, follow the included directions to complete any final assembly that may be necessary (kit dependent).

Flower Garden Stake Glazing Kit
Glaze 5 handmade ceramic flowers in your own colors and style, then return them to Calapooia Clay for professional kiln firing. Once fired and assembled, the finished flowers create a cheerful, weather-resistant accent for a garden, planter, or patio.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need pottery experience?
No. The kit includes the materials and instructions needed to glaze at home.
What do I return for firing?
Return only the glazed pottery in its protective packaging, glaze containers and unused glaze, both brushes, and the travel tote. Keep any finishing materials (e.g. metal stakes, beads, etc.) at home.
How long does firing take?
Firing normally takes approximately 1-2 weeks. We’ll email you when your finished pottery is ready for pickup.
Where do I pick up and return my kit?
Kits are picked up and glazed items are returned to Calapooia Clay Pottery Studio at 1533 SE 7th Ave in Albany, Oregon during Open Studio hours.
Will my finished colors look exactly like the glaze in the container?
Glaze colors develop and change during kiln firing. Finished colors can vary slightly based on application, firing, and the handmade ceramic surface.
Is this kit suitable for children?
Most kits are suitable for children aged 8 and up with adult supervision. However, use your best discretion.
Can the kits be shipped?
Not currently. Create-at-Home kits are available for studio pickup and must be returned to Calapooia Clay for firing.
