Open Studio by the session – with a Punch Card
In order to use Open Studio, one must first take at least one five-week wheel throwing or hand-building class. For those with ceramics training from somewhere other that Calapooia Clay, a studio orientation is necessary before you can begin using Open Studio time.
A ten-session Punch Card may be purchased for $120. Each of the ten “punches” is good for an Open Studio session. Punch Card holders may register for up to two Open Studio sessions per week. You will have access to equipment (wheels, slab roller, extruder and tables), and glazes. Both bisque and glaze firing is included. Punch Cards are valid for six months from date of purchase.
Everyone who uses the studio must purchase their clay from the Studio – no outside clay is allowed. Clay is purchased as needed for $36 – $48 per 25 lb. bag. It is expected that studio users will clean up after themselves, wiping down machines and tables, cleaning and putting away tools, and will follow all safety protocols.
Ten-session Punch Cards may be purchased for $120 in the studio, and are good for twelve months from time of purchase. A locker will be assigned where Punch Card holders can keep their clay.
Studio Member
Studio Members have access to studio equipment (wheels, slab roller, extruder and tables), and glazes for up to three Open Studio sessions per week. Each member will be assigned their own shelf space for storing tools, ware, and clay. To become a Studio Member, one must first have basic knowledge of clay arts, having taken at least one Calapooia Clay basics class (or other qualifying class).
Each new member must go through an orientation session with Ed before they can begin working in the studio. Studio members must purchase their clay from the Studio – no outside clay is allowed. It is expected that Studio Members will clean up after themselves, wiping down machines and tables, cleaning and putting away tools, and will follow all safety protocols.
Studio Members pay $120/month, plus the purchase of clay ($36 – $48 per bag). Monthly invoices are sent to members via email. Membership is valid for thirty days following receipt of payment. Members may engage in up to three Open Studio sessions per week.
Calapooia Clay is NOT a production studio. We cannot support the work of production potters.
Open Studio Usage
Only Monthly Members, current class participants and Punch Card Holders may use Open Studio. There are limits to the number of people who can use Open Studio sessions. Advanced registration is required.
